About Wings FC
Designed for the Female Athlete. Built on Belonging.
Wings FC is a women-led, girls-first soccer club based in Indianapolis, Indiana. Designed specifically for the female athlete, Wings FC is an intentional response to the challenges facing girls in sports and the evolving youth soccer culture.
When girls play sports, they gain far more than athletic skills. Female athletes are more likely to graduate from college, 92% more likely to hold leadership positions, and three times more likely to report higher levels of confidence and self-esteem. They also tend to experience a healthier relationship with their bodies and lower rates of depression. Yet by age 14, girls leave sports at twice the rate of boys. Wings FC was created to address some of the most significant contributors to dropout: a lack of female role models, declining confidence, and the physical and emotional challenges that often accompany adolescence.
Girls need to see women lead. Female athletes deserve female role models who demonstrate what is possible. The words we use matter, so our language is intentional, empowering, and consistent throughout the club. Coaches and parents are held to a high standard of supporting girls as people first and players second. Every decision begins with one guiding question: What is best for the girls?
While the statistics surrounding girls' participation in sports are concerning, research points to one powerful predictor of long-term participation: belonging. At Wings FC, belonging is not an initiative—it is our foundation. We are building a community where every player, parent, coach, and family member feels seen, valued, and connected. When girls experience belonging, they are more likely to stay in sports, embrace challenges, develop resilience, and discover their full potential.
When girls belong, they stay. When girls stay, they soar.

Grounded in Meaningful Values
Teams Led by Females
All Wings FC teams are led by female coaches and leaders. We deeply value female leadership and believe that girls need to see women leading, mentoring, and inspiring others. By surrounding players with strong female role models, we create opportunities for girls to envision their own potential both on and off the field.
Multi-age mentorship is intentionally woven into the fabric of our club. From our youngest players to our oldest athletes and leaders, meaningful relationships are cultivated across age groups, creating a community where girls learn from, encourage, and empower one another.
Trainings built with Intention
The Wings FC training environment will focus on: maximum touches, team belonging, and mental toughness. High-engagement environments not only accelerate technical development but also increase enjoyment, helping players stay motivated, connected, and eager to return to the field. Growth is most significant when players are actively engaged with a ball at their feet.
Therefore, we will prioritize small sided play, game-like learning experiences, and encourage independent decision making. Every training session will also implement a mental toughness lessons, language, and mantras.
Schedules that Encourage Balance
Wings FC actively protects the balance and well-being of its players and families. Research consistently shows that early sport specialization can increase the risk of injury, burnout, and long-term disengagement.
We believe young athletes thrive when they have the opportunity to explore multiple interests, sports, and experiences. For that reason, Wings FC values and models the balance necessary for players to grow in a variety of settings. Weekly training schedules and full calendar years are mindful and encouraging of the experiences beyond a child's soccer career.
